HISTORY
This is the 13th year of the Charity Ale and Music Festival. It began in 2006 with 6 beers and 2 bands in a small tent in the field out the back, hence its alternative name - Bash Out The Back. The bands were Fifth Column and The Unlikely with guitarist Chris Bennett playing, as he has done every year since. Few knew about it and the beers lasted until Sunday afternoon.
FUND RAISING
As it has grown so has the Charity and Fun aspect. Last year we donated £7k to charities helped by the Bands playing for free, the breweries donating the beer at cost or for free and a thousand people enjoying the entertainment and Ales. Dozens and dozens of people and businesses give their time and sponsorship, in the programme and of barrels of beer. If you can help please contact Mark and Rachel at the pub.
THIS YEAR
Our aim is to donate to local causes that have low overheads [as we do] so that little of the money goes to admin. This year we are concentrating on younger people, Friends of St. Day and Carharrack School, Porthtowan Surf Life Saving Club, the new Baby and Toddler Group in the village and RedYouth Dancers. There will be more added closer to the day.
ST. DAY FEAST
If you are not familiar with St. Day then  you may not know about the annual Feast Week, with the Feast Dance on Monday 11th. We will put details here closer to the time. Everyone is welcome, both to watch and to dance, you will need a little practice, details and dates will be here.
